City Meadows is the largest and newest neighborhood association in the 13 th district. Our association consists of approximately 1,300 households bounded by Layton Avenue to the north, 18th Street to the east, Grange Avenue to the south and 27th Street to the west. The mission of City Meadows Neighborhood Association is a commitment to the safety and well being of its residents with the ultimate goal of being to provide the safest living, learning and playing environment possible for our residents and visitors. We view our community as an invaluable asset and welcome diversity. The association recognizes that specific programs aimed at encouraging community participation will be most successful when fostered within a climate of mutual community trust. This is most likely to occur as the result of frequent, free and open contact among the public at large, public office community representatives and Police Department members. Our first meeting on snowy January 10th, 2008 had an amazing turnout of residents, as well as appearances by Mayor Tom Barrett, Alderman Terry Witkowski, Milwaukee Police Captain Don Gaglionne and Milwaukee Community Liaison Officer Jesus Gloria, both from the 6th District. Thanks to everyone for your support. Together we will make a difference in our neighborhood! We talked about many of the issues concerning the City Meadows area including safety, crime, traffic, schools, and senior citizen assistance. A steering committee has been formed to address these and other community issues. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cindi Herzog at 414-817-8000. |
